THE
PENDERWICKS by Jeanne Birdsall.
This first book about the Penderwick sisters is a lively romp of a
read for anyone from a strong 10-year-old reader to a 15-year-old who
loves a good story. Join Rosalind, Skye, Jane, Batty and their new
friend Jeffrey as they have one adventure after another on their
summer vacation in Arundel, Maine. Written in a style reminiscent of
so many children’s classics, everyone is the hero of one escapade or
another. You won’t want to wait to read the next exciting tale of
the Penderwick sisters – coming summer 2008!

GUYS
WRITE FOR GUYS READ edited by Jon Scieszka
Age 13-18 Over 90 male authors and illustrators have come together
to contribute to this anthology aimed at getting more guys to read.
Each selection is a page or two – just enough to give the reader a
taste of each style of writing and illustrating each contributor
brings to the table. Adventure, fantasy, humor, cartoons, horror,
science fiction, growing up, families, friendships, relationships
– a little bit of everything is touched upon. If you don’t like
something, flip the page to the next story. I guarantee, whoever you
are, you will find a story that appeals to you. Go on, read it. I
dare you.
ELISSA’S
QUEST by Erica Verrillo
Local Author! Age 9-13. The first book in an exciting new
trilogy! Elissa knows she’s different. Not only is she the only
person in the village who doesn’t belong to one of the village
families, she has a magical Gift – she can speak to animals. Her
life is simple, until a stranger comes to her village and takes her
away with him. Soon Elissa’s world is turned upside down as she
embarks on a quest with her best friend, Gertrude (a donkey!), to find
out the truth about her family and who she really is. Read book #1
before Elissa’s Odyssey, book #2, is released this summer 2008!

LULU
ATLANTIS AND THE QUEST FOR TRUE BLUE LOVE by Patricia Martin.
New this year! Age 8-13. There's an invader in Lulu's house. It
cries and spits up and takes up all of Mother's time. What's a girl to
do? Go on a quest, of course! A quest for true blue love - the love
that will transcend age, species, and even new little brothers. Meet a
hilarious and unlikely cast of characters in Lulu's best friend Harry
(a top hat-wearing Daddy Longlegs spider), a frog prince (or maybe
he's just a toad), a gangster skunk who likes yogurt, a fancy prissy
cat, and many more as we follow Lulu through four different stories on
her quest for true blue love. -Rebecca
